Help us to reach India with the love of Jesus
Indian Christian Mission began in June 1997 with a vision to reach the millions of people who are held captive in great spiritual darkness in the country of India. This is a country that boasts of a rich history and beautiful cultures. The people here are very hospitable, friendly and very kind, but there is spiritual blindness of great enormity that threatens to send each one of these souls to everlasting destruction. On August 15th, 1948 the people of India were liberated from the bonds of colonialism and over the past few decades they have been being liberated mentally. However, only Jesus Christ can liberate them spiritually! "If the Son (of God) shall make you free you shall be free indeed." Jn.8:36.
These people, like all others, are precious in the sight of God. There are more than a billion souls in this country living in 650,000 villages and few hundred cities. They speak 23 major (official) languages and around 2000 dialects. India has three times the population of USA. The people here are so diverse in culture and language that it will take concerted efforts on a very large scale to make a dent into the hearts of these millions of people.
India has developed into a major Industrial country of the world over the past few decades and almost all the 28 States of this country are now linked with decent transportation systems and communication facilities. In fact, 65% of the Indian are currently literate. There has not been any better time in history than the present to reach all these millions of precious souls. "The fields are ripe for harvest" and we are praying that God would send laborers through Missions like ICM to take on the work He has started in India. We invite you to take the challenge of partnering with us in this great task of reaching the millions in India.
As you can see by the map below, ICM has established mission works only in a limited number of areas marked by the blue dots; Chooral and Vellora, Pallithode and Karumancherry, and Puthencavu in the State of Kerala, Davengere, Chikkamangalore, Javagal, Chennagiri, Hassan and Jayachamaraja Nagar in the State of Karnataka; Hyderabad, Buntakunta, Arilova, Kawthalam, Secundrabad, Sivanagar, Dommaiguda, Konada, Bhemili, and Vijeanagaram in the State of Andrah Pradesh; Sathe Nagar, Nallasopara East, and Devipara in the State of maharastra and a sponsored work at Ramapuram in the State of Tamil Nadu are these stations. There are still many more States where ICM has not set foot on. Of course, there are strong Christian Mission works going on in Kerala, Maharastra, Rajastan, Utter Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and North-Eastern States around Assam through other Mission organizations and we praise God for all of them.
So much more needs to be done in States like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, and interior parts of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharastra, Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. Some of our neighboring countries like Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan also need our attention and the preaching of the gospel. In fact, there are some States in India, persecution of Christians is a commonplace thing. Orissa, Gujerat, Rajastan, Karnataka and Bihar are facing threats to the life of pastors and believers alike from Hindu extremists.
